Data Communications and Networking (McGraw-Hill Forouzan Networking) by Behorouz A. Forouzan - 4th Edition-LINKS UPDATED

Data Communications and Networking (McGraw-Hill Forouzan Networking) - 4th Edition

As one of the fastest growing technologies in our culture today, data communications and networking presents a unique challenge for instructors. As both the number and types of students are increasing, it is essential to have a textbook that provides coverage of the latest advances, while presenting the material in a way that is accessible to students with little or no background in the field. Using a bottom-up approach, Data Communications and Networking presents this highly technical subject matter without relying on complex formulas by using a strong pedagogical approach supported by more than 700 figures.

Now in its Fourth Edition, this textbook brings the beginning student right to the forefront of the latest advances in the field, while presenting the fundamentals in a clear, straightforward manner. Students will find better coverage, improved figures and better explanations on cutting-edge material. The "bottom-up" approach allows instructors to cover the material in one course, rather than having separate courses on data communications and networking.

Secrets and Lies: Digital Security in a Networked World - Bruce Schneier

Secrets and Lies: Digital Security in a Networked World
                                                                    - Bruce Schneier
Whom can you trust? Try Bruce Schneier, whose rare gift for common sense makes his book Secrets and Lies: Digital Security in a Networked World both enlightening and practical. He's worked in cryptography and electronic security for years, and has reached the depressing conclusion that even the loveliest code and toughest hardware still will yield to attackers who exploit human weaknesses in the users. The book is neatly divided into three parts, covering the turn-of-the-century landscape of systems and threats, the technologies used to protect and intercept data, and strategies for proper implementation of security systems. Moving away from blind faith in prevention, Schneier advocates swift detection and response to an attack, while maintaining firewalls and other gateways to keep out the amateurs. Newcomers to the world of Schneier will be surprised at how funny he can be, especially given a subject commonly perceived as quiet and dull. Whether he's analyzing the security issues of the rebels and the Death Star in Star Wars or poking fun at the giant software and e-commerce companies that consistently sacrifice security for sexier features, he's one of the few tech writers who can provoke laughter consistently. While moderately pessimistic on the future of systems vulnerability, he goes on to relieve the reader's tension by comparing our electronic world to the equally insecure paper world we've endured for centuries--a little smart-card fraud doesn't seem so bad after all. Despite his unfortunate (but brief) shill for his consulting company in the book's afterword, you can trust Schneier to dish the dirt in Secrets and Lies.

Network Warrior: Everything you need to know that wasn't on the CCNA exam
                             - Gary A. Donahue

Written by networking veteran with 20 years of experience, Network Warrior provides a thorough and practical introduction to the entire network infrastructure, from cabling to the routers. What you need to learn to pass a Cisco certification exam such as CCNA and what you need to know to survive in the real world are two very different things. The strategies that this book offers weren 't on the exam, but they 're exactly what you need to do your job well.

Network Warrior takes you step by step through the world of hubs, switches, firewalls, and more, including ways to troubleshoot a congested network, and when to upgrade and why. Along the way, you 'll gain an historical perspective of various networking features, such as the way Ethernet evolved. Based on the author 's own experience as well as those he worked for and with, Network Warrior is a Cisco-centric book, focused primarily on the TCP/IP protocol and Ethernet networks -- the realm that Cisco Systems now dominates. The book covers:

The type of networks now in use, from LANs, WANs and MANs to CANs

  • The OSI Model and the layers involved in sending data
  • Hubs, repeaters, switches, and trunks in practice
  • Auto negotiation and why it 's a common problem in network slowdowns
  • Route maps, routing protocols, and switching algorithms in Cisco routers
  • The resilient Ethernet -- how to make things truly redundant
  • Cisco 6500 multi-layer switches and the Catalyst 3750 switch
  • Telecom nomenclature -- why it 's different from the data world
  • T1 and DS3
  • Firewall theory, designing access lists, authentication in Cisco devices
  • Server load balancing technology
  • Content switch module in action
  • Designing QOS and what QOS does not do
  • IP design and subnetting made easy

The book also explains how to sell your ideas to management, how networks become a mess as a company grows, and why change control is your friend. Network Warrior will help network administrators and engineers win the complex battles they face every day.

A Comprehensible Guide to Controller Area Network by Wilfried Voss

A Comprehensible Guide to Controller Area Network
by Wilfried Voss

NOTICE: THE FULL BOOK IS NOT AVAILABLE, SO HERE WE HAVE UPLOADED ONLY FEW CHAPTERS.

A Comprehensible Guide to Controller Area Network by Wilfried Voss represents the most thoroughly researched and most complete work on CAN available in the marketplace. Controller Area Network (CAN) is a serial network technology that was originally designed for the automotive industry, especially for European cars, but has also become a popular bus in industrial automation as well as other applications. The CAN bus is primarily used in embedded systems, and as its name implies, is a network technology that provides fast communication among microcontrollers up to real-time requirements, eliminating the need for the much more expensive and complex technology of a Dual-Ported RAM. This book provides complete information on all CAN features and aspects combined with a high level of readability. The author, Wilfred Voss, is the President of esd electronics, Inc., a company that specializes in CAN technology. The company is located in Greenfield, Massachusetts. Mr. Voss has worked in the CAN industry since 1997 and before that was a specialist in the paper industry. He has a master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Wuppertal in Germany. Mr. Voss has conducted numerous seminars on CAN and CANopen during various Real Time Embedded And Computing Conferences (RTECC) and ISA (Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation Society) events all over the United States and Canada.

Advanced Wired and Wireless Networks (Multimedia Systems and Applications) - Tadeusz A. Wysocki, Arek Dadej, Beata J. Wysocki

ADVANCED WIRED AND WIRELESS NETWORKS brings the reader a sample of recent research efforts representative of advances in the areas of recognized importance for the future Internet, such as ad hoc networking, mobility support and performance improvements in advanced networks and protocols.

In Part I, we bring ad-hoc networking closer to the reality of practical use. The focus is on more advanced scalable routing suitable for large networks, directed flooding useful in information dissemination networks, as well as self-configuration and security issues important in practical deployments. Part II illustrates the efforts towards development of advanced mobility support techniques (beyond traditional "mobile phone net") and Mobile IP technologies. The issues range from prediction based mobility support, through context transfer during Mobile IP handoff, to service provisioning platforms for heterogeneous networks. The focus of the final section concerns the performance of networks and protocols. Furthermore this section illustrates researchers’ interest in protocol enhancement requests for improved performance with advanced networks, reliable and efficient multicast methods in unreliable networks, and composite scheduling in programmable/active networks where computing resources equal network performance as transmission bandwidth.

ADVANCED WIRED AND WIRELESS NETWORKS is structured to meet the needs of a professional audience in industry, as well as graduate-level students in computer science and engineering.
