Something Blue - Emily Giffin (EPUB Format)

Something Blue
                               - Emily Giffin
From the New York Times bestselling author of Something Borrowed comes a novel that shows how someone with a ‘perfect life’ can lose it all—and then find everything.

Darcy Rhone thought she had it all figured out: the more beautiful the girl, the more charmed her life. Never mind substance. Never mind playing by the rules. Never mind karma.

But Darcy’s neat, perfect world turns upside down when her best friend, Rachel, the plain-Jane “good girl,” steals her fiancĂ©, while Darcy finds herself completely alone for the first time in her life…with a baby on the way.

Darcy tries to recover, fleeing to her childhood friend living in London and resorting to her tried-and-true methods for getting what she wants. But as she attempts to recreate her glamorous life on a new continent, Darcy finds that her rules no longer apply. It is only then that Darcy can begin her journey toward self-awareness, forgiveness, and motherhood.

Something Blue is a novel about one woman’s surprising discoveries about the true meaning of friendship, love, and happily-ever-after. It’s a novel for anyone who has ever, even secretly, wondered if the last thing you want is really the one thing you need.

Jnana Yoga - Swami Vivekananda

Jnana Yoga - Swami Vivekananda

His whole life and teaching inspired my generation . . . . he brought his great spirituality to bear upon his patriotism and thus his message was not confined to India only, but was for the whole world. I pay my homage to his memory. -- Jawaharlal Nehru

My homage and respect to the very revered memory of Swami Vivekananda . . . .after having gone through [his works], the love that I had for my country became a thousandfold. -- Mahatma Gandhi

The man [Vivekananda] is simply a wonder for oratorical power . . . the Swami is an honor to humanity. -- William James

This book brings together the main teachings of Swami Vivekananda in an easily accessible and readable form. I hope that in these days of uncertainty and confusion of mind Vivekananda's teachings may prove an enlightenment to many troubled souls. -- S. Radhakrishnan, author, philosopher, and former Vice-president of the Indian Republic

To convey Hindu meanings in English words is exceedingly difficult. The difficulty arises from the fact that the reader inevitably reads modern western, rather than ancient Hindu, meanings into the English words. The problem of any expositor or translator, therefore, is that of so wording the English translation of the Hindu doctrines that the Western philosophical or psychological meanings of the English words will not be introduced to the reader. Especially in his exposition of Jnna-Yoga, Vivekananda showed himself to be the expert in this. -- F.S.C. Northrop, Yale University

[Vivekananda is] one of the very greatest historical figures that India has ever produced. When one sees the full range of his mind, one is astounded.

An A to Z guide to evolved states of consciousness. Between the Gates is a manual of self-initiation and liberation that takes the student through the basic methods of experiencing dream states and conscious astral projection, to the ultimate culmination of consciousness-- creation of the Body of Light. Between the Gates is for anyone who has ever desired to experience the "afterlife" while still alive, or who has desired to rid themselves of the fear of death. While drawing upon traditional Qabalistic and alchemical sources, the methods presented are applicable to a variety of traditions and schools of thought. Between the Gates functions as an "A to Z" guide to psychic initiation toward higher consciousness, and ultimately, to preparation for the great transition beyond this life and this physical body. * Stavish is featured in Guy Ritchie's hotly anticipated documentary on the Qabala. * Features black and white illustrations to further guide the reader to a higher state of awareness.

Self-confidence: The Remarkable Truth of Why a Small Change Can Make a Big Difference by Paul McGee

Self-confidence: The Remarkable Truth of Why a Small Change Can Make a Big Difference
by Paul McGee

What a remarkable and somewhat surprising book this is.

On the surface it looks like just another 'business ego boost' book - the 'hey, you're good kid but read this and you will be even better' kind of thing. But it isn't - it is far more all-inclusive and relevant than that.

Paul McGee starts from the premise that all of us sometimes have genuine confidence issues - for some people they are fleeting problems, for others that may be more long-term. All, however, he argues can be dealt with - and this book gives practical advice and useful pointers as to how.

The book looks at how we can deal with a lack of confidence in key issues that affect our lives - our work, our relationships, and our self-esteem - and gives thought-provoking ideas and real life examples of how to triumph through apparent adversity.

Yes, if you are a businessman that just wants to get ahead further this is a useful tool but just as importantly it offers help and support to people with more deep-seated problems such as a lack of self-worth, ongoing anxiety or problems with those around us. It shows that there is no situation that is truly hopeless and there are no situations where a confident smile can't help however bleak things look.

Easy to read in one sitting - or probably even better in lots of bite-size ones - this is a book I would recommend to everyone who has insecurities, anxieties or occasional lapses in their self-confidence. And that, I suspect, is pretty much everyone.
